Blog for July 12th

Well Saturday’s race at Lanier National Speedway was my first race back there in about two months. I was very confident about the night because my team mates had found some new things out about how to drive the track and I felt like it would help me out. We unloaded at the track and went out for practice and the car was pretty good. It still wasn’t where it needed to be and we made some changes to get the car right. I drew 8th and that had me starting 2nd in the first heat race. At the start of the heat race I crossed over the leader and before turn three I was in first place ready to run away from the field, but there was a big crash in turn three and we had to completely restart the race. I wasn’t so lucky on the restart because everybody jumped it and I was still trying to bring the field down the correct way. Well I got back in line and eventually got out front for a couple of laps but one car passed me and I followed him to the checkered flag. Finishing in second in my heat race started me third in the main race and I was stoked. I had a pretty good car and I felt like it was going to come to me in the main race. The race started and I fell back to fifth place for the first few laps but once the car came in I was running the guys in front of me back down. A caution came out and at that point my night completely changed. We get to choose what line to be in for the double file restarts and I chose outside which got me up to forth place. On the restart I got a heck of a run on the second place car and stayed up high to try and get a run on him. Coming off of turn two I had a great run and was passing for third when all of a sudden my car went around. I went around so fast that I hit driver’s side in the outside wall and boy did it hurt. Not only did it hurt me; it hurt the car. I had to get the front end clipped because it moved everything over to the right a ton. The Aaron’s Dream Machine was awesome Saturday night but I once again got caught up in somebody else’s mistake and there went the night. My luck will turn around eventually I know for sure but I hope it’s sooner than later.
