Blog for July 8th

Well Tuesday night’s race in Charlotte was drenched in rain. Personally I think we should have been racing boats but it was definitely something new and different. To start things out I drew fairly well again which started me third in my heat race. However we raced the heat races in the rain too and I was not good at all all night. Lets just say the rain is not my forte. I had a stiffer setup under my car preparing for the regular nights race but that came back to bite me when the rain came. On top of the setup I had, the tires I were on were just about wore out and we didn’t have any rain tires. So in the heat race I started third and finished somewhere in the back, however I made it into the main race because there weren’t enough cars to make a B-main. Once the lineup was posted for the main race I was somehow starting caboose on the field. Well there was one postitive to that. I could only go forward. Once the main race rolled around the rain had been gone but the track was still drying. A lot of us thought the track was dry enough for regular cut tires but it turned out the race winner killed the field on uncut tires. I started in the back and on the start quickly jumped out to the outside to pick off some cars. Before the end of the third or forth lap I picked up about 8 positions. But some guys slowly came into their own (with good tires) while I slipped back a couple of positions. I ended up finishing the race in 21st position. It was not a good night for the Aaron’s Dream Machine, but racing in the rain, like I said, is not my forte.
